Fiji Airports has received international recognition at the PATWA International Travel Awards 2026 in Berlin, Germany, with Nadi International Airport named Best Airport – South Pacific Islands.
The airport’s Chief Executive Officer, Mesake Nawari, was also honoured with the PATWA Gold Award for Excellence in Leadership – Airports (South Pacific Islands) for his leadership in the aviation and tourism sectors.
The awards were presented during the PATWA World Tourism Leaders’ Summit at ITB Berlin on Wednesday and were handed over by the Secretary-General of the Pacific Area Travel Writers Association, Yatan Ahluwalia.
The awards recognise governments, organisations, and industry leaders who have made significant contributions to global tourism and aviation.

Nawari says the recognition reflects the collective efforts of Fiji Airports staff and stakeholders who work to ensure the country’s airports operate safely and efficiently while providing travellers with the warmth that Fiji is known for.
He says that the recognition of Nadi International Airport highlights Fiji Airports’ ongoing investment in infrastructure, safety, service excellence, and improving the passenger experience.
As Fiji’s main gateway, he adds that the airport plays a key role in supporting tourism, trade, and national economic growth.
Nawari says the future of aviation will be shaped by sustainability, technology, and evolving traveller expectations.
He adds that Fiji Airports is working to reduce its environmental footprint while embracing smart technologies and delivering seamless and inclusive travel experiences.
The organisation also acknowledges the support of its board members, staff, airline partners, government agencies, tourism stakeholders, and the travelling public.
Nawari says the recognition further strengthens Fiji Airports’ position as a regional leader in aviation and supports its vision of becoming a world-class aviation hub for the Blue Pacific.Stay tuned for the latest news on our radio stations
