A man has been charged for allegedly selling a gun to the suspect who opened fire at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, killing one person and injuring two others.
While the FBI is investigating the shooting as an act of terrorism, authorities say the suspected gunman, Mohamed Bailor Jalloh, had previously been jailed for attempting to support the Islamic State group.
The US Department of Justice says 32-year-old Kenya Chapman is accused of selling the firearm to Jalloh days before the shooting.
He faces federal charges including making false statements while purchasing a firearm and dealing firearms without a licence.
The victim who died has been identified as ROTC instructor Lt Col Brandon Shah, while one injured person remains in critical condition and another has been treated and released.
