Week two of the temporary closure at Labasa Airport is progressing well, with teams working to keep the runway strengthening project on schedule.

Fiji Airports says contractors and technical crews are carrying out the upgrades safely and efficiently, in line with the planned timeline, and has thanked the public for their understanding and cooperation despite the inconvenience.

The closure is part of a major infrastructure upgrade to improve the runway’s strength and long-term resilience.

Once completed, the project is expected to deliver safer and more reliable operations in the Northern Division, boosting regional connectivity and aviation services for years to come.

Meanwhile, Savusavu Airport is experiencing increased domestic flights as it serves as the alternative gateway to the Friendly North, with Fiji Link and Northern Air expanding their schedules to meet travel demand until 27th March.
