The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s side finished in fourth place at the HSBC SVNS New York 7s after going down 26-17 to the USA this morning.
Fiji started well as they scored the first try through Reapi Uluinasau.
The USA responded with a try through Kristi Kirshe to lead 7-5.
Uluinasau got her second to put Fiji ahead 10-7, but Su Adegoke’s try put the Americans ahead 14-10 at halftime.
Kaylen Thomas and Ariana Ramsey scored for the Americans to extend their lead to 26-10.
Fiji got a consolation try at the end through Mere Vocevoce to close the match to 26-17.
Looking at other results, Canada defeated Great Britain 22-14 in the seventh-place playoff, and France beat Japan 19-15 in the fifth-place playoff.
