A 25-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his daughter while he was allegedly beating his de facto partner with a broom handle.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions confirms that while beating his de facto partner, he had allegedly struck their daughter’s head causing her to fall on concrete which resulted in her death.

The ODPP filed 22 serious crimes, excluding sexual violence offences, in the High Court last month where 35 people were charged with a total of 36 counts of offences.

They say of the 35 people charged, seven were juvenile who were charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and theft offences.

There were 19 victims and in three incidents, the accused and victim were related to one another.

A 26-year-old woman is charged with the murder of her 29-year-old de facto partner, while in another incident, a 35-year-old man is charged with the murder of a 58-year-old man.

There was one incident where a mother was charged with manslaughter arising from breach of duty which resulted in the death of her 2-year-old son.

In another incident, an OHS inspector was charged with manslaughter arising from breach of duty which resulted in the death of a 20-year-old woman.

The ODPP says they are taking a firm stance on charging offenders with vehicular manslaughter in cases where reckless or dangerous driving leads to the death of another person, amid a growing number of such cases, as opposed to the lesser charge of dangerous driving causing death.

A 22-year-old man is charged with vehicular manslaughter and driving
without a valid driving licence where he allegedly drove his vehicle in a reckless manner that caused the death of a 13-year-old child.

In another incident, a 30-year-old man is charged with vehicular manslaughter and driving without a valid driving licence where he allegedly drove his vehicle in a reckless manner that caused the death of a 21-year-old man.

Six people have been charged in relation to the Vatia drug bust.

Four Ecuadorian nationals are charged with the unlawful entry into the country, unlawful importation and unlawful possession of 2664.5 kilograms of cocaine while the two locals were charged with serious assault and unlawful possession of 155.6 kilograms of cocaine.

A 36-year-old man was charged with the unlawful possession of 7.4 grams of cannabis sativa.

In another incident, a 35-year-old man was charged with the unlawful possession of 245.84
grams of methamphetamine.

The accused is also charged with one count of possession of property suspected of proceeds of crime. He was allegedly found in possession of $918.30 cash suspected to be proceeds of crime.

A 41-year-old man was charged with an act with intent to cause grievous harm where he allegedly struck his wife with a metal rod.

In another incident, a 29-year-old man was charged with an act with intent to cause grievous harm.

It is alleged that the accused person allegedly struck a 45-year-old woman with a cane knife.

Other offences last month include cases where cash and assorted items were stolen during the alleged aggravated robbery incidents consisting of day and night street muggings.
