A 26-year-old man from Savusavu has made a strong recovery after undergoing a life-saving double tissue valve replacement surgery at Pacific Specialists Healthcare (PSH Hospitals) in Nadi.

Josefa Railoa has lived with a heart condition since birth. He used to take monthly medication to manage it. Over time, his health got worse.

Two years ago, he started feeling shortness of breath.

‘’I found it hard to do my work and daily activities and I knew I needed to be healthy to live a normal life,’’ said Josefa. At PSH Hospitals, Josefa underwent a double tissue valve replacement surgery.

‘’I didn’t know much about the surgery before it happened, when I woke up doctors told me everything went well. I feel like I have a new life,’’ said Josefa.

Josefa thanked the PSH Hospitals team for the exceptional care and support. ‘’This will change my life and I thank doctors, nurses and everyone at the hospital,’’ he said.

Renowned cardiothoracic and vascular surgeon Dr Sanjeev Khulbey says; ‘’Behind every successful operation is a team that works day and night with one mission -saving lives’’. The surgery was tough but with the right treatment and support from PSH Hospitals cardiac team made it a successful surgery.

Founder and chief executive officer of PSH Hospitals, Parvish Kumar says; ‘’Our mission at PSH Hospitals is to make world-class healthcare accessible to every Fijian and we are proud to see lives being transformed through the dedication of our doctors and nurses’’.

Today, PSH Hospitals stands as Fiji’s most experienced and advanced centre for open-heart surgery, delivering excellence in cardiac care to our community and beyond
