Yat Sen boy U19 secure semi final spot in Secondary School Basketball comp after unbeaten run in pool stage

Defending Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Basketball U19 boys champion Yat Sen Secondary School have secured their place in the semi finals of the competition after recording its 3rd win of their pool matches this afternoon.

Yat Sen claimed a close 17-12 win over Suva Grammar School in their last pool game to record an unbeaten run through the pool stages.

This has seen them topping their pool and gaining automatic qualifications for the semi finals while Suva Grammar progresses to the quarter finals.

Meanwhile, the elimination rounds will only be played in the U15 and U19 girls division this afternoon due to odd numbers in their pools.

In some other results this afternoon, in the U19 boys division, Swami Vivekananda College defeated Ratu Kadavulevu School 25-7, Latter Day Saints walloped Saint Thomas High School 45-8, Queen Victoria School beat Fiji Agape Mission School 36-8, Marist Brothers’ High School 1 defeated Central College Lautoka 35-8, Suva Grammar thrashed Marist 2 40-5, Marist 1 defeated Fiji Agape Mission School 25-5 and Swami Vivekananda College beat Latter Day Saints 21-12.

In the U17 boys division, Natabua High School defeated QVS 20-4, Marist 1 narrowly lost to Yat Sen 20-17, Swami Vivekananda College defeated Marist 2 18-5, Tilak High School defeated Fiji Agape Mission School 18-11 and RKS beat Central College Lautoka 22-7.

In the U17 girls division, Swami Vivekananda College edged Latter Day Saints 11-9, Suva Grammar beat Tilak 27-10, Saint Joseph’s Secondary School Blue edged Natabua High 8-7, Suva Grammar beat Gospel High School 7-5, Saint Joseph’s Secondary School White beat Yat Sen 27-8, Natabua High School beat Tilak 14-6 and Swami Vivekananda College defeated Central College 24-6.

In the U15 boys, Sacred Heart College beat International School Nadi 16-15, Marist 1 defeated Fiji Agape Mission School 35-9, International School Suva defeated Marist 2 23-2, Suva Grammar overcame Sacred Heart College 15-14, Tilak edged Latter Day Saints 23-22, Central College Lautoka defeated International School Nadi 14-13 and Yat Sen defeated Marist 1 18-12.
