Women and girls of Jittu Estate and Wailea Settlement in Suva have received sanitary pads from a Pacific Harbour based NGO, the First Responders.

The First Responders Suva Team Leader, Joseph Work says women are already facing difficulties in providing for their families, and sanitary pads will be something that they will be having last or not at all in their shopping list.

Work says this is why they want to provide pads for these women and girls apart from other assistance.

He says women should not have to make the decision of whether to buy pads or not.

Work says they are in the process of providing sanitary pads to girls in the Dilkusha Home and those students who are stuck in hostels and cannot return home.

The First Responders also gives out 100 hot meal packs every week to individuals and families who are struggling to put food on the table and whose income has been affected in Navua, Lautoka, Nausori and Suva.

Work says they have also assisted families with groceries and baby packs.

If you want to assist the First Responders, you can contact them on 2122738 or 7428 248, or their Facebook Page, First Responders.
