Haider was in an induced coma following emergency brain surgery after the controversial fight against Australian-based Chinese boxer Runqi Zhou at King Charles Park in Nadi, where no required drug tests were conducted by the promoter.

While speaking during the service, Minister for Youth and Sports Jese Saukuru assured the family that the government stands ready to support.

He says today, Fiji has lost its golden boy.

Saukuru says Haider and his brothers have inspired younger people to achieve great things and now, Fiji has lost its wonder boy.

Former Minister for Agriculture and Waterways Mahendra Reddy says today is an emotional day because he knows the family personally.

He says Haider was a special kid as he was not only into boxing but he was a person who helped anyone who was in need.

Reddy says he will be missed by his family and also those he has inspired.
