Permanent Secretary for Health Dr James Fong says whilst we have a prospect of hope to vaccinate our children and to provide them with an extra layer of protection against COVID-19, we must all continue to practice COVID safe measures if we want to see a drop in COVID cases in our community.

Dr Fong says without these safe measures, and low levels of vaccination coverage, we can expect to see COVID-19 continue to spread in our communities and affect those who are most vulnerable.

Dr Fong also says they face a big threat with an ongoing battle against misinformation, and they counter this by providing honest and verifiable facts and information about what is happening on the ground with their COVID-19 response.

He adds they will ensure that they provide people with the information that they need to make an informed decision to vaccinate their children when the vaccine program rolls out.
