The CEO of Foundation for Rural Integrated Enterprises and Development or FRIEND Fiji, Sashi Kiran says they have been receiving a lot of requests as some people are in desperate need of food.

Kiran says they have seen some extremely sad cases of this where in one case, a mother who was a sole breadwinner passed away a few days ago and her daughter and grandchildren do not have the resources to feed themselves or even put a funeral together.

Kiran says they were able to work with partners and assisted with this.

She says there was another case where a sole breadwinner, who was looking after two people with mental disability and a daughter, passed away.

Kiran says they were in desperate need of assistance.

She says these are the kinds of cases that they have to deal with as they receive 20 to 30 requests for food per day.

Kiran says from the time they started to advertise again that they will be assisting in food supplies, the requests received went up to about 200 on that same night.

She says they will be working with other partners to also assist with the requests that are coming from the people in Suva.

If you want to assist these families, you can contact FRIEND Fiji on 8983183 or friend@connect.com.fj

If you would like to provide assistance to help the families, you can get the details on our Hands Across Fiji section of our website, fijivillage.
