Young Swire Shipping Fijian Drua and Fiji Water Flying Fijians lock forward, Mesake Vocevoce is still reeling from the opportunity of playing alongside some of the top players that he grew up watching on television.
Vocevoce was part of the Flying Fijians side that made history last week when they hosted Scotland for the first time as a tier one nation and winning 29-14.
The 22-year-old says the last time the Flying Fijians played against Scotland in Fiji was in 2017, and at that time, he was still in high school playing football.
Vocevoce says he is grateful for God’s plan in his life and his career, especially to be able to represent his country on the international level and be part of history.
He says it was a bit nerve-wrecking for him to be playing in front of the home fans for the first time while representing the Flying Fijians, but he was thankful for the support he received from his teammates.
Meanwhile, the Flying Fijians are currently on a break before they return to training ahead of the Pacific Nations Cup competition next month.
The Flying Fijians will take on Tonga at 3pm on the 30th of August at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
