Four hundred villagers from Nubumakita in Ra now have safe drinking water.
This follows the commissioning of a new water system at the village by Fiji Water.
Fiji Water Manager Facilities Lance Allen said the system at Nubumakita included the construction of a new dam plus two kilometres of pipes that connected to the water supply outlet in the village.
Allen said before the new system was built, the villagers were faced with a broken down infrastructure built in the 1970s that was inadequate especially in the dry season when the amount of water available was very low.
Fiji Water has also donated an additional $20,000 of Fiji Water following a request from the Divisional Commissioner Western, Commander Joeli Cawaki for further help.
This brings the total to more than $120,000 that Fiji Water has donated to private and Government agencies for flood relief since February this year.
