Opposition Members of Parliament Jone Usamate and Alvick Maharaj were removed from parliament for an hour and a half this afternoon.
Speaker of Parliament Filimone Jitoko dismissed the two for interrupting the session while former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad was contributing to the debate on the 2019-2023 annual reports of the Consumer Council of Fiji.
While highlighting the decline in inflation rate month to month over the last 12 months, Professor Prasad was explaining how this inflation rate is calculated.
While directly addressing Usamate, Professor Prasad says he is a statistician and understands how the consumer price index is calculated.
He pleaded with him not to lie to the people that the inflation rate is increasing under this government.
