The Fiji Uprising Music Festival is set to kick off today and fans are promised to be treated to 13 hours of awesome live music and performances from local and international artists.

Knox Entertainment Director, Ellana Kalounisiga says they have put in a lot of effort into this year’s festival just like they usually do every year and are grateful to all the sponsors for their support.

Kalounisiga says this support is important to able to provide a great platform not only for local artists but up and coming artists as well that will be participating in the Domo Vou Talei competition and also to bring in international artists like Jah-Boy from the Solomon Islands.

Jah-Boy says they are looking forward to this weekend’s concert and they can not wait to deliver what the fans expect from them.

He says he has been to Fiji a few times but just performing club gigs and this is his first time in an outdoor concert in Fiji which he is excited about.

Jah-Boy says this year will be different as they will be expecting a bigger crowd compared to other concerts that he himself performed in here in Fiji and it is going to be a new crowd for him.

Kalounisiga says the beautiful thing about Jah-Boy coming from the Solomon Islands is that he has faith in the local music industry and in doing so, he has been able to engage in sessions with some of the local musicians.

She says Jah-Boy is actually enjoying these sessions and it has been a lovely experience for him.

Another international artist, Blanco, who will be a back up singer to Jah-Boy says he is really excited about this weekend as this is his first time here in Fiji and to perform alongside Jah-Boy.

He says he is also looking forward to performing with Jah-Boy again as it has been a long time eversince they last performed together.

The festival will have performances from local music artists and the Domo Vou Talei participants.

Tickets are $40 and are sold at the Ginger Kitchen at the Fiji Museum or you can purchase it online at ticketmax.

The concert will start at 12pm at the Uprising Beach Resort in Pacific Harbour.
