The Sikh community will come together today to celebrate Baisakhi, one of the most significant festivals in Sikhism, at the Samabula Sikh Temple.
Baisakhi marks the birth of the Khalsa and the formalisation of Sikhism as a distinct faith.
It also signifies the beginning of the Sikh New Year and the start of a new harvest season.
Celebrations will end at 10.30am.
Samabula Sikh Temple Secretary, Paramjit Singh says the celebration aims to encourage Sikh community to reconnect spiritually and reflect on the core teachings of Guru Nanak Dev, which include honest living, meditation on God, and sharing with others.
Singh says these values continue to guide the Sikh way of life and remain central to the community.
