Residents of the Golden Age Home in Samabula celebrated Diwali alongside staff in an atmosphere of happiness, love and togetherness.

The staff organised a programme for the residents, providing them with an opportunity to enjoy the festivities and feel valued and cared for.

Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, is an important celebration for Hindus. It symbolises the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance.

It is a time for families and communities to come together, share meals, exchange gifts and spread kindness and goodwill.

For the senior citizens at the Golden Age Home, the celebration held special meaning.

It served as a reminder that they remain an important part of the community and that their wellbeing, happiness and dignity matter.

Celebrations such as Diwali can also help promote social connections, reduce feelings of loneliness and create joyful memories for older persons.

The staff's initiative reflects the importance of caring for senior citizens with love, respect and compassion.

By sharing the light of Diwali, staff at the Golden Age Home brought smiles to residents' faces and reinforced the message that the true spirit of the festival lies in kindness, unity and sharing with others.

The celebration also served as a reminder that every senior citizen deserves to feel loved, included and appreciated, not only during festive occasions but throughout the year.
