First-year university student, Rishika Prasad who used to work as a salesperson lost her job due to the impacts of COVID-19 in April this year.

She says she juggled her part-time job and studies to cater for her family’s needs.

The 19-year-old says her father used to work for a security agency but lost his job due to the impacts of COVID-19 and her elder sister is the only breadwinner in the family who works on reduced hours.

She says she does not understand things as well as she did during face to face classes and faces internet connectivity issues.

Prasad who stays in Laucala Beach says she keeps in touch with her friends through social media and contacts her lecturers and tutors when she needs help in her studies.

She says all members in her family are fully vaccinated and she is urging Fijians to get vaccinated so that things can normalize, and people can go to work again.
