USA Women’s 7s beat Australia 24-19 to book Cup final showdown against Blackferns

The USA Women’s 7s side staged an impressive comeback to beat Australia 24-19 in the last minute to book a Cup final showdown against the New Zealand 7s Black Ferns early tomorrow morning in the HSBC Cape Town 7s.

Australia held a 12-7 lead at halftime before extending it to 19-7 in the 9th minute of the game.

The USA then scored two more tries and a conversion to trail 19-17 before Nia Toliver scored the winner at the stroke of fulltime to break the hearts of the Australians.

In the first semi final, NZ thrashed France 43-0 to book their place in the final.

The Women’s Cup final will kick off at 4.35am tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the Men’s Cup semi final is underway with Spain taking on South Africa.

The Fiji Airways Fiji Men’s 7s side will take on France in the second semi final at 12.18am.
