Fiji Men book Dubai 7s quarter final spot after 42-20 win over the USA in game 2

The Fiji Airways Fiji Men’s 7s side has booked a place in the quarter finals of the HSBC Dubai 7s after securing a 42-20 win over the USA in their second pool match tonight.

Fiji got off to a slow start after the USA scored the first points of the match through an unconverted try to Lucas Lacamp that gave them a 5-0 lead before Fiji fired back and scored three quick converted tries through Sevuloni Mocenacagi, Filipe Sauturaga and Joji Nasova in the4th, 5thand 6thminute respectively to lead 21-5.

The USA scored another unconverted try through David Still at the stroke of halftime to trail 21-10 at the break.

Fiji started the second half strongly with a converted try through Joji Nasova to extend their lead to 28-10 before the USA replied with another unconverted try.

Super sub Iowane Teba scored two more converted tries in the 11th and 14th minute to extend Fiji’s lead to 42-15 before the USA scored a consolation try at the stroke of fulltime through Jack Wendling for the final score.

Fiji will take on NZ at 3.16am tomorrow in their final pool match. Meanwhile, the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s suffered another heavy loss in their second pool match, going down 42-7 to Australia. They will take on China in their final pool match at 1.13am tomorrow.
