Two people have been killed and a third person was seriously injured in a shooting in Kenosha, Wisconsin, last night during the third night of protests over the police shooting of Jacob Blake.

The BBC reports that 29-year-old Blake was shot and injured by police as he leaned into his car on Sunday, with his children screaming.

Last night's incident was believed to have involved protesters against Blake's shooting and armed men guarding a petrol station.

The protests have at times turned violent, causing damage to property.

Blake is in hospital and his lawyers say that it will take a miracle for him to walk again.

In a statement, Police say the person injured was taken to the hospital with "serious, but non-life-threatening injuries while an investigation into the shooting is ongoing and the names and ages of the victims are still being determined

Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth told The New York Times his office is investigating whether the shooting resulted from a conflict between demonstrators and a group of men with weapons who were protecting businesses.
