Land Transport Authority together with TotalEnergies Marketing Fiji and ACCF handed over road safety awareness material to Indira Gandhi Memorial School and Rishikul Primary School.

TotalEnergies Marketing Fiji and the LTA handed over road safety kit to Indira Gandhi Memorial School.

Early Childhood and Year 1 students of Rishikul Primary School received colouring books from Accident Compensation Commission of Fiji and LTA. LTA says both schools were selected based on their Road Safety visits and school crossing observations.

While handing over the kits, LTA CEO Flagon Bekker says they have assisted more than 500 schools in Fiji and are looking to assist another 19 schools under this program.

Bekker says this initiative will train the future leaders on basic road safety measures such as safe crossing points, traffic signals, vehicle and road behaviour, visibility on the road and the proper use of seatbelts and helmets.

ACCF CEO and Board Director of LTA Parvez Akbar says a total of 34 children have lost their lives on our roads since 2018.

Akbar says these could have been avoided if precautions were taken on the road and he is hoping one year there will be zero road causalities.
