Trump to speak to Putin through phone call in a bid to end Ukraine war

US President has revealed that he will be speaking to Russian President Vladimir Putin as he tries to put an end to the Ukraine war.

While announcing this, Trump says he will be speaking to Putin on the phone, and the subjects of the call will be to put a stop to the bloodbath that is killing, on average, more than 5000 Russian and Ukrainian soldiers a week.

This announcement comes after representatives from Ukraine and Russia held face-to-face talks in Turkey on Friday, and it was the first time the two countries held direct talks at any level in three years.

Trump had earlier said that he does not believe anything is going to happen, whether anyone likes it or not, until he and Putin get together.

He says he plans to speak with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and various members of NATO after he talks with Putin.

He adds that hopefully it will be a productive day, a ceasefire will take place, and this war that should have never happened will end.
