People in the Central and Western Divisions are expected to experience traffic disruptions and delays as Police will be conducting traffic and escort duties during the State visit of the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, from tomorrow until Wednesday.

Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations (ACP) Livai Driu says there will be no full closure of roads during these days.

ACP Driu is pleading with drivers to cooperate with the Police by moving aside or making space for the official motorcade when they hear the escorting police vehicles.

He adds operations will work towards ensuring minimal traffic disruptions, and is requesting patience and cooperation during the three days.

Meanwhile, the Indian President will be traditionally welcomed at the Grand Pacific Hotel on Tuesday morning, where she will meet the Indian diaspora and will then lay a wreath at the National War Memorial site at 4pm.

She will go to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School to pay her respect to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and then be at the State House for a reception at 6pm.

Murmu will be visiting the Sri Siva Subramaniya Swami Temple in Nadi on Wednesday morning.
