The coalition government is for everyone, not just the iTaukei, and it is for every ethnic group.

Minister for Home Affairs, Pio Tikoduadua has stated this in response to a statement by Fiji Labour Party Leader, Mahendra Chaudhry calling the review of the Immigration Act discriminatory because it proposes to only allow the iTaukei registered under the Vola ni Kawa Bula to enjoy the right to enter Fiji without a visa or permit.

Tikoduadua says he understands the terms in which the review had started and he wants to assure the Fijian public and Chaudhry that this matter also includes the rights of the members of our community who are descendants of the girmitiyas.

He also says he believes that is the spirit of the review and what will come out in the end is not discriminatory in any way, and he is sure that they are already taking submissions to that effect.

The Minister further says for the information of Chaudhry, they are looking after the interest of everybody.

fijivillage News has asked Tikoduadua to clarify if the review of the Immigration Act 2003 for those registered in the VKB not required to get a visa or permit will include Fiji born citizens and not just the iTaukei and descendants of girmitiyas.

This question is being raised as other non iTaukei and non-Indo Fijians have asked if they are included in this review.
