Three young children, including a baby, are dead, three more have been hospitalised, and a man has been arrested after a house fire in Sydney’s west this morning.

Emergency services rushed to Freeman Street in Lalor Park following reports of a house on fire at 1am today.

A nine-year-old girl and three boys, aged six, seven and 11, were taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.

But NSW Ambulance paramedics were unable to save two more boys, aged two and four, who died after being raced to hospital.

Firefighters extinguished the burning home before the body of a third child, a 10-month-old girl, was found at the scene.

The children are yet to be formally identified, and a 29-year-old woman was taken to hospital for smoke inhalation.

A 28-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to hospital for smoke inhalation, and he remains there under police guard.

A police investigation is now underway.
