CWM Hospital Chief Surgeon, Doctor Josese Turagava has urged the people of Kadavu to refrain from unnecessary movement as this can assist in their work of eradicating COVID-19 from the island.

He says this virus is easily transmissible from person to person and as long as the unnecessary movement continues, the virus will spread.

Dr Turagava says villagers should be welcoming when the health team arrives in their village to conduct swabbing, contact tracing and isolating cases.

He adds no one will be arrested for not giving their consent to get tested, however, the team is in Kadavu to work with the people in eradicating the virus from the island.

31 new COVID-19 cases were recorded in Kadavu, bringing the total number of cases to 301.

They have also recorded one COVID-19 death.
