Permanent Secretary for Health Doctor James Fong

The Permanent Secretary for Health Doctor James Fong has confirmed that the nature of the work of the two doctors who had tested positive for COVID-19 had nothing to do with the Lautoka Outpatients Department.

Doctor Fong highlighted this when asked if there is a need to call in all those people who had gone into Lautoka Hospital, for screening.

He says because they are medical workers, they are very well informed about their movement.

Doctor Fong says the two doctors know what kind of information that is needed and they can be very precise with their reaction.

He says they are comfortable with the travel history of the doctors and they can be fairly measured with the way that they do their containment program.

Doctor Fong says they do have sufficient leeway to ensure that the services at the Lautoka Hospital do continue.

He says they will need to go through some further discussions to ensure they work out how the infection got there and how they mitigate any further risk.
