The decision yesterday is final and we will not turn back - SODELPA

Jale says Duru is acting as an individual

SODELPA VP, Anare Jale announcing the result of the vote last night

SODELPA Vice President, Anare Jale confirms that every decision that they have made yesterday to form a coalition government with the People’s Alliance and National Federation Party is final and they will not turn back.

Jale made the comments following the attempt made by former SODELPA General Secretary, Lenaitasi Duru who wrote to President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere requesting to hold off the first parliament sitting as he files a complaint on the allegation of bribery.

Jale says all those people who were in the management board meeting yesterday were confirmed to be representatives of the party and Duru validated them.

Jale adds that Duru verified everything they had before the meetings yesterday.

The SODELPA Vice President is asking why Duru is saying all this now.

Jale also confirms that he has not received or seen a copy of the letter to the President and adds that if Duru has resigned, he should not be at the SODELPA office.

Jale further says that if somebody is saying that yesterday’s agreement was done illegally then they have to prove it.

Duru, who resigned as SODELPA General Secretary last night was planning to have a press conference at the SODELPA Headquarters this afternoon without any authorisation.

This did not go ahead as party executives led by Anare Jale were at the office and met with Duru.

In a letter to the President, Duru had asked for the parliament sitting not to be called until some issues are addressed.

He confirms he has received a response from the President's Office.

We are still waiting for the Office of the President to confirm when he will summon parliament to sit.

Stay with us for developments.
