There are delays in teachers’ allowance payments and this is due to ongoing verification processes.
This was shared by Minister for Education, Aseri Radrodro in Parliament while responding to a question from Opposition MP Hem Chand, who asked why teachers’ acting allowances were not being paid on time.
Radrodro says payments for ghost employees at the Ministry of Education have to stop as well.
He says payment delays are largely due to verification processes.
He stresses that allowances for teachers and non-teaching staff are being paid on schedule, but the processing of acting allowances has taken longer because of delays in receiving the required information and approvals.
The Minister also addressed concerns about unpaid overtime, noting that it is an operational matter.
He says the proper procedures and documentation must be completed before any allowance or overtime payment can be issued, adding that multiple steps are involved.
