The Government will meet with the Namosi landowners at 11am tomorrow to continue their discussions on the renewal of the Special Prospecting License for the Namosi Joint Venture.

This has been confirmed to fijivillage News by the Namosi Provincial Council and the Minister for Lands, Filimoni Vosarogo, who will be part of this important meeting.

In a consultation held at the Namosi Provincial Council in December last year, most of the people in the districts of Namosi, Wainikoroiluva and Waidina, did not agree with the renewal of the license due to the massive impact on the environment and the people of Namosi.

Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources, Filimoni Vosarogo had stated that according to the Namosi Joint Venture, they have requested for another three years and this extension will be the final lap to decide on whether to proceed with the mining in Namosi or not.

Vosarogo says the renewal of its Special Prospecting License is currently on hold by the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources and more consultation is required to be held with the people of Namosi.
