Suva Rugby says FRU has no trust at all in our local coaches

Suva Rugby says FRU has no trust at all in our local coaches

Suva Rugby Union General Secretary, Nemani Tuifagalele says there is no trust shown towards our local coaches by the Fiji Rugby Union and that is a big issue that needs to be sorted out.

Tuifagalele says there were no local coaches shortlisted for the Fiji Water Flying Fijians Head Coach position and that really shows that the FRU has no trust in local coaches.

He says the question on whether these local coaches applied or not, is a different issue.

He adds there are a lot of local coaches who are well accredited and could qualify for the job and also have the same accreditation as current Acting Flying Fijians Head Coach Senirusi Seruvakula.

Tuifagalele says there are a lot of developments happening in Fiji and there is no doubt that most of these local coaches are capable of taking up that job.

Tuifagalele further says another issue that they are concerned about is how the FRU dealt with Seruvakula’s application.

He says Seruvakula also applied for the job but was informed that his application was unsuccessful and was not shortlisted.

He adds, that as the interview was underway, Seruvakula was then later contacted via email by the FRU that he has been shortlisted again and will be interviewed.

Tuifagalele says that is a slap in the face of FRU, conducting themselves in that manner.

He says luckily Seruvakula accepted the decision and went for the interview which really showed the humble side of him. Tuifagalele says all these things add up to the FRU showing no trust at all in the local coaches and also being unprofessional with how they dealt with applications for the top job.

FRU Interim Chair, Peter Mazey is yet to comment.
