The Suva Rugby Union has made its intentions clear and that is to ask the current board members of the Fiji Rugby Union excluding the Prime Minister’s nominee to step down or resign from their positions.

Secretary Nemani Tuifagalele says the current board members’ inability to fund the affairs of the FRU properly is behind its decision to file the motion that will be tabled at the FRU’s Annual General Meeting on the 29th of this month.

The present FRU board members include Trevor Nainoca, Daniel Whippy, Muni Ratna, and Biu Colati while Simione Valenitabua is Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka’s nominee to FRU.

Tuifagalele says they can also see that the current board members do not fit into what the FRU wants and looking at the other anomalies that have happened within the operations of the FRU has given them concerns as to the direction that the Union is moving towards.

He says they have nominated 4 nominees to take over from the positions which they will announce later.

Tuifagalele says they have been informed by the FRU that Unions will also have to file nominations for Presidency and they have nominated their President.

He says that he has been informed that former Acting FRU CEO Tevita Tuiloa has been shortlisted for the CEO position and he will leave it to the board to make their decision if he is given the chance to regain that position.

Tuifagalele says they will support Tuiloa.
