Students in Fiji are set to benefit from KPMG Fiji’s first major donation under the Laptops for Lifelong Learning Initiative, which has provided 139 laptops to 12 primary and high schools nationwide.
The initiative, aims at bridging the digital divide in the Pacific which is being delivered in partnership with Queensland-based NGO LiteHaus International.
KPMG Fiji Managing Partner, Lisa Apted says they are delighted to be able to work with LiteHaus to provide laptops for local computer labs in schools.
She says they plan to expand the program over time, and the initiative is expected to benefit about 10,000 students by providing access to vital technology resources.
Apted says this initiative reflects KPMG’s vision to “pay it forward,” acknowledging that many of their staff once faced limited access to digital tools and understand the value of having the right resources to succeed and open doors to future opportunities.
She says the laptops, which were previously used by KPMG employees, have been professionally refurbished and reformatted for student use.
Apted says LiteHaus is overseeing their setup in computer labs and ensuring that each school receives the necessary training to effectively use the technology.
The Laptops for Lifelong Learning program was first launched by KPMG Australia in 2022 and has already provided more than 1,000 laptops and digital support to students across Australia.
Apted says with its expansion into Fiji, the initiative is now focused on supporting education across the broader Pacific region.
The schools receiving the laptops include Nadi Special Education Centre, Votualevu Public, Nausori Primary School, Tavua Primary School, Ratu Kadavulevu School, Namalala District School, Adi Maopa School, Levuka Public School, St John’s College, Noi Koro District School, Vakacereivalu Memorial Primary, and Ra High School.
