The solar electrification system for the new evacuation center in Saolo Village in Wainunu, Bua will benefit 28 households.

According to the Wainunu Youth Group President, Luke Tunabuna, the system was funded entirely by them.

He says the group's principle is to adhere to the directives and advice of their elders as they have ongoing projects in the village, such as networking footpaths around the village.

Tunabuna says the Saolo Evacuation Centre extension and retrofitting cost slightly over $11,000.00 and was funded by the Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development.

While commissioning the new evacuation center, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka urged the youths to believe in themselves and make use of their God-given talents.

He commended the youths for their determination and advised them to use their time wisely and to be more productive, emphasizing the importance of utilizing their land, qoliqoli, and talents as these are the things they were born with.

The youths' contribution to the evacuation center project is a testament to their determination and commitment to their community's welfare.

Rabuka also recognized the value of the knowledge that women who are married into the village bring from their localities and encouraged the youths to continue with their ongoing projects.
