FCCC CEO Joel Abraham

Be prepared as the current situation in the international market could have a further negative impact on the prices of flour and fuel in Fiji.

FCCC CEO Joel Abraham says Ukraine and Russia are still having their own crisis and most recently India has said they are banning the exporting of wheat.

Abraham says all these domestic based policies of commodities we purchase that feed into the global supply chain will have a negative impact on prices.

He says they are in constant discussions with local manufacturers to ensure that they have taken supply contracts with their suppliers.

However he adds they have put in place smart policy measures.

Abraham says you may have noticed that the price of fuel in Fiji is cheaper than New Zealand which is a much larger market.

He says this is because they have put in place smart regulatory policies to ensure that we are able to mitigate the impacts escalating global prices.
