The Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s side had a shaky start to their Dubai 7s campaign after securing a close win over the USA in their first pool match today.

Fiji started well with a converted try to Jeremaia Matana in the 1st minute before the USA replied with a converted try to Marcus Tupuola a minute later to level the score at 7-all.

The game went into halftime with both teams locked at 7-all.

Sevuloni Mocenacagi opened the scoring for Fiji in the second half with a converted try in the 8th minute but the USA capitalised on Fiji’s poor defence to score their second converted try through Malacchi Esdale in the 10th minute.

Captain Joseva Talacolo scored Fiji’s final try with Terio Veilawa converting it for the win.
