Minister for Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru

Senior management members were reluctant to make decisions and exercise their power in the ministry.

Minister for Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru, highlighted this while speaking on the Ministry's challenges for 2023 and stated that this had affected their operations.

Sakuru believes they had inherited this from the previous government which held up their delivery, however, he did not give up and did his best to get rid of the fear.

The Minister says an ice breaker informal activities were done with the staff so that they could open up which was difficult in the first place.

He says later on he saw improvement in the way the staff were responding to their duties.

Saukuru adds that they are not focusing on the plans designed for this year which includes setting up of the Fiji Institute of Sports and the construction of a new building at the Valelevu Youth Centre.
