Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum

The FijiFirst Party had a press conference after a meeting yesterday and Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum who has opted not to be an elected representative in parliament, stood in front of the MPs to deliver a statement with many claims and allegations against the coalition government.

We had approached FFP Leader and the Leader of the Opposition, Voreqe Bainimarama twice as he was going in and out of the party office at Brown Street yesterday.

He was not taking any questions and not responding to any of the queries.

We are still trying to confirm if the FFP will now have a person who opted to stay out of parliament to be leading the party's statements against the government.

Bainimarama had earlier said that he will lead the charge in parliament and Sayed-Khaiyum will do the same outside parliament.

This was the statement made by Bainimarama when Sayed-Khaiyum had become a Constitutional Offices Commission member.

However Sayed-Khaiyum resigned after attending a commission meeting as the Political Parties Act states that any commission member cannot be a member or official of a political party.

We have also asked for specific responses from the government on the claims and allegations made by Sayed-Khaiyum.

They will respond later after making a full analysis.
