Sai Sanjeevani Children Hospital celebrates 1 year anniversary and success of heart surgeries for children

The Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Hospital last night celebrated their 1st anniversary and also celebrated the gift of life ceremony for several children who have successfully recovered from surgery.

While officiating at the ceremony, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says the $25 million pediatric facility is a matter of great pride as Fiji is the first country in the region to have such a hospital established.

Rabuka says while it served the children of Fiji, it also opened its doors to the children around the Pacific as well which is also something that is unique.

He also acknowledge the support and the inspiration behind the hospital and also all the humanitarian projects and initiatives in Fiji.

Rabuka says he hopes that throughout his term as Prime Minister, the people’s coalition government and all partners will continue to leverage of each other ensuring that at the end of the day, no one is left behind.

Director of Sai Sanjeevani Children’s hospital, Doctor Krupali Tappoo says the hospital was built with the vision and that is to alleviate the suffering of the children of Fiji and the Pacific and also to ensure that no financial burden falls upon them.

She says one of their vision as well is to emerge and become the most important pediatric cardiac centre for Fiji and around the region.

She also says despite the challenges and obstacles, the hospital managed to continue with their vision through the generosity and kindness from individuals from around the world that felt for the the cause.

The hospital has to date conducted 240 heart surgeries to children in Fiji and around the region ever since its establishment in country 1 year ago.

The hospital also has 10 branches in India, 1 in Fiji, Sri Lanka and Nigeria and have collectively and successfully conducted 25,000 free pediatric and cardiac surgeries.
