SODELPA Leader Viliame Gavoka

The FijiFirst Party has hit back on the claims made by SODELPA Leader Viliame Gavoka that he visited Vusama Village, which is just a few kilometres from the world-renowned Natadola Intercontinental Golf & Spa Resort as they still draw water from wells.

The FijiFirst says they already have the plan to bring clean water to Vusama Village, and SODELPA is selling pipe dreams.

They say the Water Authority of Fiji has met the Turaga ni Koro, and preliminary survey works for water connection are complete.

They add design works are funded, and a 100-millimetre pipe will be laid in the next financial year.

They say FijiFirst has built or repaired hundreds of kilometres of water pipelines since 2014 – improving access to clean water for over 80 percent of all Fijians.

Meanwhile, SODELPA Leader Viliame Gavoka had said that he visited Vusama Village in Nadroga, a village that he has often raised as a concern in parliament as they still draw water from wells.

He says this village is just a few kilometres from the world-renowned Natadola Intercontinental Golf & Spa Resort.

Gavoka says the FijiFirst Government had spent $45 million on golf while this village is in dire need of water.

He adds many in the area still draw water from wells for drinking, cooking, and normal daily use.

Gavoka says a SODELPA Government will expedite the delivery of fresh water for the well-being of the inhabitants of this village as a basic necessity.
