ormer Permanent Secretary for Youth and Sports Rovereto Nayacalevu has been appointed the new Fiji Rugby Union Chief Executive Officer.

Former Permanent Secretary for Youth and Sports Rovereto Nayacalevu has been appointed the new Fiji Rugby Union Chief Executive Officer.

The FRU says the Board of Trustees believes that Nayacalevu is the ideal choice for this pivotal role, given his extensive experience and commendable contributions to the country in both, the Government and commercial sectors.

They say Nayacalevu brings a wealth of experience to Fiji Rugby, having most recently served as the Acting Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Fisheries and Forestry and PS for the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

They further say in these roles, he successfully led over 100 civil servants, demonstrating exemplary strategic and organizational leadership, and his ability to map and pave the way forward for these organizations to meet their goals and objectives has been consistently proven.

The Union adds, in addition to his distinguished Government service, Nayacalevu has held various leadership roles in the commercial sector across Fiji and the Pacific, particularly in the Solomon Islands and Samoa.

The FRU says his expertise spans Sales, Operations, Procurement, and Logistics, showcasing his versatile leadership skills.

They say strengthening his extensive practical experience, Nayacalevu holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of the South Pacific.

They also say Nayacalevu, who is an ardent supporter of rugby in Fiji, also has a rich history with the sport, having played the game at 15s and 7s at the Provincial level.

They add his deep connection to rugby, combined with his professional qualifications and leadership experience, positions him uniquely to lead Fiji Rugby into a promising future.

The Union says Nayacalevu takes over from Simione Valenitabua, who has worked tirelessly with the Board of Trustees to steer the organization towards positive change, and Valenitabua’s dedication and efforts have laid a strong foundation within Rugby House.

The FRU says Nayacalevu is committed to building upon this legacy to achieve further success for Fiji Rugby and the broader rugby community in the country.

The newly appointed CEO, Nayacalevu, says he is honoured to take on this role and lead an organization that means so much to him and to the people of Fiji.

He says rugby is a unifying force in our nation, and he is dedicated to working with all stakeholders to drive Fiji Rugby to new heights.
