Crusaders coach Rob Penney is adamant they can still defend the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific crown.

The reigning champions sit at the bottom of the points table following five straight defeats, their worst start to a season, and they will face the second-placed Chiefs in Christchurch tonight.

Before the competition began, Penney stated the Crusaders' goal was to win the tournament, and he said that hasn't changed.

Penny says for them, the goalposts have not moved, and they feel as though they are competitive with everybody, and on their day, they can beat anybody.

He says every week, they have made it harder for themselves, but they have got to cement a place in the playoffs.

He adds if they can get there, they know they will be dangerous, and they have got to find a way to get there.

The Crusaders Coach says they have talked a lot about performance, and that is where their focus is, but they need some outcomes.

The Crusaders will host the Chiefs at 6.05 tonight.

In other Super Rugby Pacific matches, the Waratahs will face the Rebels at 8.35 tonight, the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua will meet the Force at 1.05pm tomorrow, Moana Pasifika will take on the Blues at 3.35pm tomorrow, the Hurricanes will play the Highlanders at 6.05pm tomorrow, and the Reds will face the Brumbies at 8.35pm tomorrow.
