Highlanders chief executive Roger Clark is investigating claims players were involved in a drunken party in Queenstown that led to an arrest of a 24-year-old man, who is not on the Highlanders’ payroll.

The management of the Highlanders rugby team has confirmed they are investigating reports of unruly behaviour involving Highlanders players in Queenstown in New Zealand.

Guests have alleged Highlanders were involved in a drunken party at a Queenstown resort hotel that led to a man being charged with wilful damage and disorderly behaviour.

New Zealand Police have confirmed a 24-year-old - who is not a Highlanders player - had been arrested.

The Highlanders had a week off due to a bye in the Super Rugby Aotearoa competition following their 33-31 win over the Chiefs in the previous round.

An unnamed guest told the NZ Herald that members of the group, urinated in a public courtyard at the hotel, and the partygoers were "yelling and screaming all night'', which other guests found intimidating.

According to the report, a lift was also damaged after a fight in it.

The arrested man also kicked a police car several times as he was being detained.
