In 2018, fijivillage ran a live video report during the general elections count with a caption that read “Semi Turaga reporting live from the Fiji Elections Office Count Center.”
This has caused some confusion as it also had a video of the FijiFirst General Secretary, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum having a brief interaction with the Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem at the National Results Centre.
We regret the confusion and it was never our intention to mislead the people with the caption.
We never said that Sayed-Khaiyum was at the Count Centre.
The caption given was based on where the journalist was reporting from at the time.
The Count Centre was located in the carpark of the National Gymnasium while this misleading screenshot circulated by some is from the National Results Centre located inside the National Gymnasium.
