The province of Serua will present outgoing gold medal winning Fiji 7's coach, Ben Ryan with the most unforgettable gift today during the special welcome ceremony of their golden son at Uprising Beach Resort.

Serua Provincial Council committee member, Alipate Natoba says the people of Serua and Uprising Beach Resort wish to acknowledge the achievements of their “Son of Serua”.

He says they will be forever grateful to Ryan for publicly declaring that he is from Serua and today’s celebration is about acknowledging him.

The official program is titled ‘Welcoming of our Golden Son Ratu Peni Raiyani’.

There will be a full Itaukei traditional ceremony for Ben Ryan followed by a Soli ni Yaca and Loloma or Giving a Name to Ben Ryan and a gift.

This will be done by the Turaga Na Vunivalu of Serua, Ratu Peni Latianara.

The ceremony has started.

Ben Ryan will speak at 2.15pm followed by a speech by Uprising Beach Resort Managing Director, Rene Munch.
