Sila Central runner wins 400m heat in Suva in front of parents who travelled from Lau

The long journey from Totoya Island to Suva proved worthwhile for the proud parents of young sprinter Caucauniwasa Latolatomaivei, who watched their son claim first place in the Sub-Junior Boys’ 400 metres heats at the Coca-Cola Games.

Competing at the HFC Bank Stadium, the Sila Central College student delivered an impressive performance, crossing the finish line ahead of other runners to secure his place in the next stage of the competition.

For Latolatomaivei, the moment was made even more special by the presence of his family, who travelled all the way from Lau to support him.

Speaking to fijivillage News, Latolatomaivei says he is thankful for the support and guidance of his school and teachers.

He says he was happy to see his parents at the Games and is looking forward to competing in the finals.

The 400 metres finals will be held at 3pm tomorrow.
