Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad encourages parents and guardians to apply for $200 back-to-school support as it closes next week.

He says the government advises parents and guardians that all completed forms need to be submitted at your child's school as the $200 payment per child will be paid from 10 January 2024, well in advance before schools reopen at the end of January.

He says the $200 payment per child will be paid from 10 January 2024, in advance before schools reopen at the end of January while the Ministry of Finance has received over 160,000 applications for the $200 Back to School Support for school year 2024.

Professor Prasad says the 2023 school year, the government has paid $45 million to over 223,000 students with parental income below $50,000 which has helped parents ensure that their children are well-equipped with proper school uniforms, shoes, bags, stationary, and other essentials before school starts.
