The Portugal rugby side received a heroes' welcome when they arrived at the Lisbon Airport after returning from the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France and following their historic 24-23 win over the Fiji Water Flying Fijians in their final pool match earlier this week.

Thousands of fans and supporters gathered at the airport chanting and singing as their heroes walked in through the arrival lounge.

The players could be seen smiling and beaming with pride as they joined in the chants and sang with the crowd knowing they had made their fans and their country proud with that historic performance against Fiji.

It was the first time ever that Portugal managed to get a win at a Rugby World Cup and also the first time ever to beat the Flying Fijians.

Meanwhile, the quarter finals of the RWC will kick off this weekend with Wales taking on Argentina at 3am Sunday followed by Ireland playing the All Blacks at 7am Sunday.

The Flying Fijians will take on England at 3am Monday and host France will take on defending champions South Africa at 7am Monday.
