A man in his 20’s is currently in custody at the Sigatoka Police Station after he resisted arrest when approached by two officers in Sigatoka and was also allegedly found in possession of dried leaves believed to be marijuana.

Police say the incident of his arrest was captured in a video that was taken in Sigatoka Town and has gone viral on social media today.

The video is showing the two officers who have the man on the ground and the man is holding onto the handcuff and not releasing it. One of the officers then spayed the man’s eyes. The man was also complaining in the video that the two officers were choking him.

Police say the man was approached by the two officers based in Sigatoka after he was acting suspiciously. He was searched where a sachet of dried leaves believed to be marijuana was allegedly found on him.

The dried leaves have been sent for analysis while investigations continue.
